Event Details

On Thursday, Feb 11, get a behind-the-scenes look into what it takes to run for a down-ballot race and hear from the political organization that’s aiming to lower the entry barriers for local candidates: Run for Something.

Through the 2020 cycle, Run for Something endorsed nearly 1,500 candidates and helped elect 500 people across 46 States. Of those elected candidates, 55% are women, 56% are BIPOC and 21% are LGBTQIA+. Are you next?

Join us for a Community Conversation as we welcome Amanda Litman, Co-Founder and Executive Director for Run for Something. Learn about the history of the organization, its mission to build a progressive bench by supporting young candidates, and find the support you need to launch your campaign.

Featured Speaker:

Amanda Litman is the co-founder and executive director of Run for Something, which recruits and supports young, diverse progressives running for local office — since 2017, they’ve identified more than 65,000 young people across the country who want to run. She's also the author of the book, “Run for Something: A Real Talk Guide to Fixing the System Yourself,” and host of “Run for Something: The Podcast.”

Politico named Run for Something (and Amanda) one of the 50 ideas driving politics in 2018. Bloomberg called her one of the people to watch in 2019. She was named one of Fortune’s 40 Under 40 in 2020. Amanda has written for outlets like Cosmopolitan, Buzzfeed, The Nation, Teen Vogue, CNN.com, MTV.com, Vanity Fair, O Magazine, Crooked Media, and more.

Before launching Run for Something, she was the email director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, digital director for Charlie Crist's 2014 Florida gubernatorial campaign, and an email writer for Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. She graduated from Northwestern University and lives in Brooklyn.
