Recap: Mental Fitness Workshop

Workplace drama, world events, everyday stressors, and constant change can feel overwhelming and cloud our capacity to connect and create. On Tuesday April 5, 2022, Conscious Leadership Coach and 18 Coffees Community Partner Elisa Haggarty gave an interactive workshop exploring three foundational tools to help build emotional confidence, and boost mental fitness, and enhance agility in the face of change.

Awareness

Observe thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs. Identify what makes you stressed, what makes you fearful, and what your triggers are so that you can better react to them in the future.

Get Present

Connect and create from a place of presence. This is not only good for mental health, but it is also highly efficient. Getting present helps still your spiraling mind and connect back to your physical body. Ways to help get present include walking, box breathing, and drawing.

Questioning

We are always one question away from a different day and perhaps a different life. So begin to ask yourself clarifying questions to get to the root of your stressors and reframe them into opportunities. What do you need to express? What can this situation teach me?

Many thanks to Elisa for guiding us through this workshop! If you’re looking for additional resources, check out Elisa’s podcast called “The School of Unlearning” available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
