Getting #VoteReady with Vote.org
COVID-19 has posed serious challenges to this very important election season, including limiting the opportunities to vote in person due to health concerns. Continuing with our Democracy 2020 theme, we’ve partnered with Vote.org to provide support in increasing exposure and information regarding the vote-by-mail ballot process.
Over the past couple of months, Community Partners have volunteered their time and talent to develop a vote-by-mail social toolkit -- everything from in-depth research on voter registration to curating social copy and assets for voter awareness and mobilization. The response was incredible and everyone on the Vote.org team has been very appreciative of the tireless efforts by our Community Partners.
Part of the VBM toolkit includes a #VoteReady campaign with several action days to educate and prepare folx to vote safely in November, whether they choose to vote by mail, vote early or vote on Election Day. Vote.org has partnered with celebrities like Common and Jaden Smith to help signal-boost their message -- but we think your voice can be just as powerful! Their first campaign launches on Tuesday, July 28, and the Vote.org team sent us an easy way we can all support:
On July 27: Reply to the “teaser tweet” from @votedotorg in any way you choose: Eyeball emoji 👀, high five gif, however you want to let people know you’re in on this little secret.
That “Teaser Tweet” will lead into a collective moment on Tuesday, July 28, where coalition members will demonstrate their public commitment to getting #VoteReady and encouraging civic participation.
On July 28: Schedule a tweet to go out at exactly 11:03 am local time that showcases how you or your company are a part of our coalition and the kind of steps you’re taking to be voter-friendly.
At 11:00 am local time on July 28, update your Display Name to include your business or brand name followed by “is #VoteReady🗳
At 1:00 pm ET engage with Vote.org during their Twitter Q&A session about how companies, organizations and individuals can get #VoteReady. They will be accepting questions between 1-5 pm EST.
As mentioned, this will be the first of many pushes for the #VoteReady campaign and we’ll keep you all in the loop! Either way, stay tuned for more opportunities with Vote.org, including assisting with their online help desk, and participating in Community-Partner-only events!
