Event Details
In partnership with Sister District Project Greater Chicago, we’re organizing a virtual get-together for an interactive postcard party to learn about Sister District Project and why state legislative races are critically important and need our support--even during a historic Presidential election year.
Free for Community Partners, we'll mail you a kit with postcarding supplies, including blank postcards, stamps, voter names/addresses, candidate campaign background and a script. We’ll be writing postcards to voters for candidates like Laurie Pohutsky, an LGBTQ millennial microbiologist who is running in a very tight re-election race in Michigan.
On Friday, August 14, join us via Zoom as we learn about why states matter and write out postcards, while engaging in a community conversation with Volunteer Leader of Sister District Greater Chicago, Lauren Long.
Featured Speaker:
Lauren Long is a Chicago-based leader for Sister District Project, a progressive political organization founded after the 2016 election. Sister District works to turn states from red to blue by winning state legislative elections. It pairs volunteers from blue areas of the country with highly strategic down-ballot races in swing states to build progressive power and end gerrymandering. In 2020, Sister District is supporting candidates in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin.
Beyond Sister District, Lauren has a background in integrated marketing communications with a focus on earned media. She has well over a decade of experience leading teams to create award-winning, newsworthy campaigns for clients like Mars, P&G and Kraft. She’s currently transitioning her career focus from big brands to big social impact.
