Event Details

Following a year of xenophobic rhetoric and the surge of racially targeted violence, Asian and Asian American communities are facing hate at a much higher rate than previous years. According to Stop AAPI Hate,  anti-Asian hate crimes surged by 149%, with nearly 3,800 incidents reported in 2020.

This month’s Wake Up Wired focuses on the rising hate crimes, racial harassment, and discrimination against Asian and Asian American communities since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s drive awareness, education and urgency around what’s happening, including actionable ways to stop it.

On Thursday, April 29, join us for a virtual panel featuring Deputy Director at Hollaback!, Jorge Arteaga; Anti-Hate Training Coordinator at Asian Americans Advancing Justice, Cat Shieh; MWRD Commissioner and Chair of the Asian American Caucus, Josina Morita; and our moderator, 18 Coffees Co-Founder, Robin Chung.
