Innovation Strategy &
Change Management

18 Coffees kicked off a multi-year program to help United Way Worldwide roll out the “Modern United Way” — a network-wide transformation initiative designed to increase donor engagement and digital communication effectiveness across more than 1,100 local chapters.

Our work included: Innovation Strategy, Change Management, Training Bootcamps, Leadership Workshops, Experiential Virtual Learning, Toolkit Development

“The 18 Coffees team seamlessly integrated into our teams, understanding that the key to helping us innovate was speaking our language and understanding our culture. We love their approach to change management — it got our people excited about the future.”

— Amy Dinofrio, Vice President of People Strategies, Talent & Board Engagement at United Way Worldwide

Our work

  • 18 Coffees worked closely with the teams from Network Strategy and People Strategies to develop a strategy for evolving the United Way network through direct engagement and targeted communication with local chapters, leadership training, and strategic roadmapping.

18 Coffees worked closely with 12 local chapters on an innovation pilot that developed proofs of concept for the larger network.

  • 18 Coffees worked closely with United Way Worldwide to map its change strategy for transforming its 1,100 local U.S. chapters—and then dug in deep with network leaders to bring the strategy to life.

The team developed multi-day change management bootcamps with more than 100 participants at the United Way Worldwide headquarters that focused on training, supporting, and engaging with individual United Way chapters across the U.S.

  • 18 Coffees developed change management toolkits comprised of customized resources to empower leaders in local United Ways to make change in their organizations.

Tools and topics included: Clarity and Vision Casting, Prioritization and Process Management, Communication and Feedback, and Leadership and Ownership.

  • 18 Coffees worked hand-in-hand with leaders at 12 local chapters to coach them to be innovation and change leaders in their local organizations.

The team developed an experiential virtual learning program to train client participants on new workplace dynamics, including: Leading Through Change, Returning to In-office Work, and Managing Up/Down/Across in the New Normal.
