Measuring Impact with the Obama Foundation

18 Coffees worked with the Obama Foundation to develop a strategic measurement framework to apply to the organization’s five-year strategic plan for the Chicago market. This engagement included a series of stakeholder interviews, external research, team workshops, and an adaptable measurement framework to gauge the overarching community impact of key programming and the Obama Presidential Center.

Our work included: Research & Insights, Impact Measurement Framework, Change Management

"I think 18 Coffees is doing an incredible job. We've had iterations of this conversation multiple times, but it's never gotten to a work product.”

— Michael Strautmanis, Executive Vice President, Civic Engagement at The Barack Obama Foundation

Our work

  • 18 Coffees conducted extensive interviews with key internal teams to understand the intricacies of the organization’s operations.

The team also researched several partner organizations for insights into their impact measurement techniques and strategies.

  • Over the course of a few months, 18 Coffees facilitated interactive workshops with a few key teams to help team members across departments align on organizational priorities.

Notes and insights from the workshops helped the team develop concrete action items that informed the final work plan delivery.

  • After the research phase and the findings from interactive workshops, 18 Coffees crafted an adaptable measurement framework comprised of KPIs and metrics to track the Obama Foundation’s impact pillars in Chicago as the organization continues to grow.
