Four Sessions We’re Most Excited for at Social Innovation Summit 2022

The 18 Coffees team is back on the road and heading to Social Innovation Summit’s flagship conference, a two-day event filled with programming, discussions, and debates with social impact leaders nationwide. While co-founder Caleb Gardner will host his own interactive workshop session on leading through change, we can’t wait to connect with and learn from the other changemakers in Washington, D.C. Here are some of the sessions that we're most excited for:

CORPORATE INNOVATIONS IN ESG

“Though it might not be labeled as ESG outright, a large portion of our work impacts our clients’ environmental, social, or governance initiatives. There’s rightfully an increased focus around ESG, but many organizations still have questions: Where should ESG sit within an organization? What should reporting structures look like? How can organizations ensure they’re hitting the appropriate benchmarks — and pivoting appropriately if they aren’t? I’m particularly interested to hear Gallup CEO Jim Clifton, U.S. News & World Report CEO Eric Gertler, and moderator Nandika Madgavkar, Senior Director, Strategy & Growth at CECP share their insights on corporate headway in the ESG space.” — Caleb

A VISION TO STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITIES

Thanks to our network of Community Partners, 18 Coffees is well aware of the power of community and the impact it can have when it comes to social innovation. We’re excited to discover new ways to grow and strengthen that impact from ACLU Deputy Legal Director & Director of the Trone Center for Justice and Equality Yasmin Cader.

FROM CODE SWITCH TO CULTURE CODE: USING CULTURE TO TRANSFORM THE FUTURE OF STORYTELLING

“As a journalism major, aspiring writer, and content + community director of 18 Coffees, I’m personally a sucker for storytelling. This session on harnessing the power of culture within storytelling featuring Kevin Powell of The Real World and two members of Paramount’s Content for Change team is sure to be a treat.” — Jessica

CAREER PATHS FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF WORKERS

Chief Impact Officer. Head of Remote Work. Chief Community Officer. These titles either didn’t exist a few decades ago or didn’t receive the explicit time, energy, and attention that they do today. With the advancement of technology and shifting corporate norms, what kind of careers might come to fruition? We’ll be front row to hear what Patrick Methvin of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mike Marriner of Roadtrip Nation, Maura Pally of Blackstone Charitable Foundation, Natika Washington of Prison Fellowship, and Google’s Andrew Dunkelman envision for the future of work and the next generation.
