18 Coffees at the Drive-In

As many of you know, we recently launched an updated Community Partnership program -- offering exclusive partnership opportunities, a training program, an extended network of incredible folx, engaging events and programming, and so much more. It’s been an exciting few weeks for our community, and it called for a celebration!

On Friday, August 7, we brought together our Chicago Community Partners for a pop-up drive-in movie. It was a chance for everyone to take a moment to step outside their quarantines, see people in real life (from a distance), share a meal, and enjoy a movie together.

We picked the movie “Jojo Rabbit,” and got catering from local favorite Ada Street in partnership with the Davis Theater.

(As the event organizer, you’d think I’d follow my clear instructions on how to put in an order in time for the movie, right? Wrong. -- I ordered my pizza for the wrong day.Nonetheless, Ada Street was very generous and replaced my order with a steak, salad, chocolate ganache, and roasted veggies. It was so good!)

Putting together this event, seeing so many smasks (smiles covered in masks), and seeing the excited response from our Community Partners was heartwarming, to say the least.

As people are spending more time apart, we’re going to keep finding creative ways like this to bridge the connection gap, while keeping everyone safe. What are your ideas?
