Sponsored Family Holiday Program

Project Overview: Did you know that more than 4,100 low-income individuals are enrolled in Christopher House programs, where the average annual income for a family is less than $19,000? This holiday season, let’s all chip in as a collective 18 Coffees community to help make the holiday season a little brighter for two families: the Jimjimo family of 5 and the Hale family of 3.

How It Works:

  1. As part of the sponsored family holiday program, the 18 Coffees team received both families’ notes and wish lists of needed items and small gifts, including winter jackets, toys, bedding, pillows, and winter boots. Read through each family’s story and needs below.

  2. This year, Christopher House is encouraging sponsors to make gift card donations in lieu of physical gifts for the safety of their staff and families. So we created online registries for you to purchase gift cards directly.

  3. Go to the online registries below to make a gift card donation by December 11:

  4. The 18 Coffees team will compile all of the 18C Community’s donations, gift wrap and label them before dropping off Dec 19 at the Christopher House’s Stewart Campus.

About Alawiya Jimjimo and Family:

Alwaiya Jimjimo (33 years old), Faiza (2 years old), Nahili (4 years old), Nurdeen (7 years old), Fatra (10 years old)

My family story during COVID-19:

“This year has been very difficult for my family, as I am sure it has been for many others. Yet, I don’t lose faith and I am grateful to have my children home and safe and healthy. Remote learning has been difficult to manage with four kids at home. However, I much like having my kids home safe, than worrying while they are at school. I hope your family is safe, too. Thank you, Alawiya and family”

Wish List items include: dolls, legos, books, winter boots, winter jackets, bedding, clothes, dinnerware & small appliances.

About Sharon Hale and Family:

Sharon Hale (34 years old), Adeline (6 years old), Alexander (8 years old)

My family story during COVID-19:

“In the beginning it was rough. The 3 of us in one room have 3 separate Zoom meetings. All, fighting to be heard, scared to go out even if we were allowed to. Somehow we made it; We learned to pivot and share. COVID-19 taught us the importance of family and telling people you love them while we can. However, one thing COVID-19 taught me was to invest in wall art and make peaceful surroundings for myself.”

Wish List items include: winter coat, winter boots, booster seat, socks, PJs, puzzles & board games
